Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus): Hedgehogs are still in decline, not only in Staffordshire but also in the UK.  Our local West Midlands rescue helps more than 500 hedgehogs a year.

Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris):  The Cannock Chase Red Squirrel is alive and well in Dorset, animals from Staffordshire were released there, and their descendants are alive and well on Furzey Island.

Hazel Dormouse (Muscardinus avellanarius): We have a reintroduced population of dormice, however we also have a wild population on the other side of the country.  

The best chance to see a dormouse is to come out with the group on our box checks, although we have not seen one in recent years.
